Reflector Telescopes
Reflecting telescopes are perfect for deep sky observing. Using mirrors to gather and focus light, light enters the telescope through its open front end and travels to the concave primary mirror at the back. From there the light is reflected back up the tube to a flat secondary mirror, which sits at a 45° angle in relation to the eyepiece. Light bounces off of this secondary mirror and out through the eyepiece. Our reflector options include traditional Newtonian telescopes in a wide range of sizes and large aperture Dobsonians that are simple to set up and great for astronomy outreach.

Explore Scientific | Reflector Telescopes
Explore the depths of the universe with Explore Scientific’s diverse collection of reflector telescopes, designed to deliver powerful, high-contrast views of faint deep-sky objects like galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. Reflecting telescopes (also known as Newtonian reflectors) use a system of mirrors rather than lenses to gather and focus light, making them an ideal choice for astronomers who want large apertures at a more accessible price point. Whether you're searching for your first serious astronomy telescope or looking to upgrade to a larger, more capable instrument, our reflector lineup includes a wide array of options. From compact Newtonian reflectors perfect for visual observation to large aperture Dobsonian telescopes designed for immersive views under dark skies, these instruments are optimized for performance, portability, and ease of use. Key models feature high-quality parabolic primary mirrors, low-expansion glass, and sturdy optical tube assemblies that minimize optical distortion and maximize image clarity. Our Dobsonian telescopes are particularly popular for their simple, intuitive mounting systems and unbeatable value when it comes to aperture size, a crucial factor for observing dim, distant celestial objects. Explore Scientific reflector telescopes are available in a range of apertures including 114mm, 130mm, 152mm, and 254mm, allowing users to choose the right balance between light-gathering power and portability. Advanced users will appreciate features like dual-speed Crayford focusers, collimation aids, and compatibility with a wide range of astrophotography accessories. These telescopes are also a great choice for astronomy education and public outreach, offering bright and detailed views of the Moon, planets, star fields, and beyond. When paired with quality eyepieces and filters, they become even more versatile tools for both visual observation and imaging.
